Raking in Extra Dough Has Never Been Easier

Yael Morowati

Whether you have a full-time job or are a stay-at-home mom or dad, all of us could use a little spare change this season.  There’s no time like the present to look for creative and fun ways to make an extra penny or two.  Here are some ideas to get the ball rolling.

1. Drive

Become a driver for Uber or Lyft. If you’re an avid adventurer, have some extra time on the weekends, or like meeting new people, this is a great way to make some extra cash.

Flexibility and being your own boss are just two of the perks that come with the territory.  Set your schedule and get enough gym time in the day.  Also, keep 80% of everything you earn as a driver.

If this sounds like something you’d like to try, then you must be at least 21 years old, own an iPhone or Android phone, have three years of driving experience, an in-state driver’s license, a clean driving record and be able to pass a criminal background check.  Finally, your car must be a four-door, seat at least four passengers (excluding the driver), be registered in-state and be covered by in-state insurance.

2. Jog

Many people struggle to find the motivation to hit the gym, but there are various health apps that actually pay you to exercise, giving you a huge push to get on track.  With a financial incentive, you’ll be much more likely to keep up with your fitness goals.

HealthyWage helps you to lose weight and rewards you in the process.  To get started, set-up an account and undergo a verified weigh-in.  Set a weight loss goal and then place a bet with your own money.  Once you reach your goal and win the bet, you’re rewarded with money via PayPal or Amazon credit.  HealthyWage has been featured on Good Morning America, The Today Show, and Fox News.

Track your fitness efforts with Walgreens Balance Rewards and earn points.  The more steps taken, the more points earned. Get 20 points per mile (up to 1000 points per month), and earn points for tracking your blood glucose levels, weight, sleep and blood pressure.  Your redeemed points get converted to redemption dollars which can be deducted from your purchases at Walgreens.  To get started, sign up at Walgreens and download the app.  Connect the app with a fitness tracker or just log your activity manually.

AchieveMint allows you to gain points using your preferred health and fitness app.  Connect your Fitbit, or other exercise app to your AchieveMint account.  Earn points for tracking your weight, water intake, sleep, dietary pattern and how many steps you take. 50,000 points converts to $50, so it may take a while to get paid with this app but it’s worth it.

3. Sell Your Unlimited Data Plan and Smartphone Photos

If you’re grandfathered into an amazing unlimited data plan for your phone, then you can sell your gigabytes on eBay.  Unlimited data plans sell between $300 and $2,000 each.  In keeping with the same theme, if you have a smartphone and a photographic eye, making money just got a lot easier for your. With Foap, you can turn your smartphone photos into cash. Download the free app, sign up, and upload your photos to Foap’s marketplace. Someone buys the license to your photo for $10, and you make $5. If your photo sells 20 times, you make $5 each time, and end up with $100 in your pocket.

4. Sell Your Electronics and Books
