Save Big With These Lifetime Warranties

Yael Morowati

I’m always looking for new ways to save money and if you’re anything like me, then you definitely love lifetime warranties.  I’ve compiled a list of my personal favorite brands that offer lifetime warranties.  These will end up saving you money in the long run, and that can’t be such a bad thing, right?

1. Cutco: The Forever Guarantee

Knife-maker Cutco was founded in Olean, New York, in 1949. It offers a “forever guarantee” that extends to knives given as gifts or even hand-me-downs.

According to the company’s website, “We want every Cutco owner to be satisfied forever, and when the product is passed along, we will continue to back that pledge.”

Forever Performance Guarantee: If at any time you are not completely satisfied with the performance of your Cutco Product, Cutco will correct the problem or replace it.

Forever Sharpness Guarantee: Cutco knives, when used in the home, will remain sharp for many years, but after extended use they may need sharpening. There is a 40 item limit per service request.

Forever Replacement Service Agreement: Should your Cutco be damaged through unconventional use, Cutco will replace it for half the current retail price plus applicable sales tax.

15-Day Unconditional Money Back Guarantee: If at any time within 15 days after receipt of your Cutco product you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, you may get a full refund of your purchase price.

2. Eddie Bauer: Unconditional Lifetime Guarantee

This outdoor gear and clothing maker stands behind its products so much that it offers an unconditional lifetime guarantee.

Eddie was one of the first retailers to offer an unconditional guarantee in writing-he was that confident and committed to the quality of his products. And after 50 years in business he said, “My greatest contribution to the consumer was our 100% unconditional lifetime guarantee. That guarantee was part of what I sold.”

As stated on the company’s website, “Every product we sell is designed to be the best and built to last. If anything you buy falls short of those standards, you’re invited to return it at any time,”

3. Jansport: Lifetime Warrantee

Most of us at some point have owned a Jansport backpack.  Parents especially love this brand since it has a top-notch warranty. This company, founded in 1967, guarantees nearly all of its backpacks, messenger bags, hiking bags, and fanny packs.

According to the company’s website, “If your pack ever breaks down, simply return it to our warranty center, we’ll fix it or if we can’t, we’ll replace it or refund it.”

JanSport engineers quality, durability, and reliable products. They stand by their packs for a lifetime.  Keep in mind, Plastic Digital Accessories have a limited one-year warranty in which Jansport will replace or refund covered products.

4. Leupold: Full Lifetime Guarantee

Leupold is based in Beaverton, Oregon, and makes binoculars, scopes and rangefinders used by golfers, hunters, security personnel and police.

The company will replace its products — whether you’re the original owner or not — forever.

Leupold Optics are built for a lifetime of performance at the highest level, plain and simple. If your product doesn’t perform as promised, Leupold will repair or replace it for free, whether you are the original owner or not—forever (excludes electronic components). You don’t even need proof of ownership!

5. L.L. Bean: 100% Satisfaction Guarantee

If you’ve purchased something from L.L. Bean in the last century, you’ve probably heard of its legendary warrantee.  The Maine-based company makes clothing, shoes, outdoor gear, backpacks and other items.

As stated on the company’s website, “We make pieces that last, and if they don’t, we want to know about it.  Our guarantee is a handshake – a promise that we’ll be fair to each other. So if something’s not working or fitting or standing up to its task or lasting as long as you think it should, we’ll take it back.”

Their products are guaranteed to give 100% satisfaction in every way. Return anything purchased from them at any time if it proves otherwise.

6. Osprey: All Mighty Guarantee

Osprey’s “All Mighty Guarantee: Any reason, any product, any era,” ensures that if you buy one of the company’s bags or backpacks, it’s guaranteed for life.

According to the company’s website, “Osprey will repair any damage or defect for any reason free of charge — whether it was purchased in 1974 or yesterday.  If we are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, we will happily replace it.”

Keep in mind that the All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009. Any repair costs incurred for a non-warranty repair prior to Jan 1 2009 will not be reimbursed. Reservoirs are covered under a limited 1-year warranty (from the purchase date) that covers manufacturing and material defects only. Also, make sure you send in a clean pack as Osprey is restricted by law from repairing it. If your pack is not clean, Osprey will return it to you, unrepaired.

7. Patagonia: Ironclad Guarantee

Patagonia’s Ironclad Guarantee covers its apparel and outdoor gear for climbing, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, fly fishing and trail running.  If it doesn’t perform as expected, the company will replace it.

As stated on the company’s website, “We guarantee everything we make,” according to the company’s website. “If you are not satisfied with one of our products at the time you receive it, or if one of our products does not perform to your satisfaction, return it to the store you bought it from or to Patagonia for a repair, replacement or refund.”

8. Polar Bottle: Lifetime Guarantee

If you buy one of its water bottles and it breaks or is somehow faulty, Polar Bottle will replace it for you.

According to the Colorado-based company’s website, “We take great pride in the quality of each and every Polar Bottle water bottle we produce and distribute from our Boulder, Colorado factory. Every bottle goes through several levels of quality control before it is shipped out and our products are designed to last for years. That being said, we understand that things happen, so we offer a lifetime guarantee on all of our products.”

Polar Bottle also offers a free replacement if you lose or damage your water bottle cap.

9.  Timbuk2: Lifetime Warrantee

Timbuk2 makes messenger bags, backpacks, laptop bags and duffel bags. The company offers a lifetime warranty on all of its bags that covers defects in materials or workmanship.

According to the company’s website. “Your Timbuk2 bag is sewn by hand and might contain some slight imperfections. Like Daniel Craig or Marilyn Monroe, the slight imperfections are what add character to an already awesome product.”

Damages not covered are those resulting from abuse, normal wear and tear, cosmetic damages that do not affect the functionality of the bag (such as scratches or stained fabrics). The lifetime warranty does not include their apparel products, such as Timbuk2 t-shirts and hoodies.

The California State law requires that all items accepted for repair be freshly cleaned, so if you send in a dirty item, it will be returned to you without repair.

10. Vortex Optics: VIP Warranty

Vortex Optics makes binoculars, gun scopes, tripods and other gear.  Its VIP warranty says that it will repair or replace any Vortex product if it becomes damaged or defective. The warranty doesn’t cover theft, loss, deliberate damage or cosmetic damage. The warranty is fully transferable and you don’t need to hang on to your receipt.

As stated on the company’s website, “You see, it doesn’t matter how it happened, whose fault it was, or where you purchased it. You can count on the VIP Warranty for all Vortex Optics riflescopes, prism scopes, red dots, rangefinders, binoculars, spotting scopes, tripods, and monoculars.”
